Traveling can be tricky sometimes, so I have put a mini list together to help you stay organized. While in college I used to do a ton of traveling especially since I was in a long distance relationship. These 5 tips always saved me a bunch of time which in return allowed me to enjoy all my fun getaways.
1. Pack light and pre-plan your outfits: I know this might be the most difficult thing for any girl out there who packs half her closet for a “just in case moment” but I promise it will save you so much trouble. Plan all your outfits ahead of time, so when you arrive you aren’t rummaging through all your clothes trying to put things together. It makes you that much more efficient and your husband/boyfriend will thank you. Also your laundry pile when you get back won’t look like Mount Everest. PS I usually just travel with a tote and a small carry on suitcase and I never run out of clothes.
2. Map it out and do your research: While planning your itinerary make sure you check the distances between all your locations, create a little map so your daily activities are more synchronized and you aren’t driving or catching an uber to a cafe 30 miles away. New cities can be tricky and figuring out where to go and how to get there on the day of can get frustrating and who wants to waste time on vacation.
3. Bring a scarf: can’t tell you how many times bringing a scarf has been number one on my things to pack, especially on airplanes, airports and planes can get pretty chilly and a scarf can serve a blanket and as a pillow.
4. Stay hydrated: Make sure you are drinking a ton of water, my favorite bottle on the go is this S’well bottle, they have them available in a ton of different colors and sizes. These guys come in handy, especially on airports, make sure you empty it out while going through security and refill it once you get to your gate. Drinking a ton of water is extremely important to me, my skin can act up while traveling and drinking a ton of water helps keep my body and skin hydrated and glowing.
5. Be flexible: Even though I try to be as organized as possible and create an itinerary, things happen and sometimes that museum you thought you would love isn’t what you imagined, so a quick change of plans is totally normal, at the end of the day the most important thing is that you are having fun and enjoying your trip!
Hope these quick tips and tricks come in handy the next time you are planning and packing for a trip. (included my S’well bottle and tote below)
