It’s that time of year when school supplies fill the isles and college students are getting settled into their dorm rooms. While I am not in a dorm room, just my Atlanta apartment; dedicating a room for an office is not quite an option in our cozy one bedroom, so I have turned the corner of our room into my little work station. It’s where I can sit and enjoy writing my blog posts, respond to emails/messages, pay my bills (sucks the enjoyment right out of you) and document my creativity/imagination. This is where I currently run Hello It’s LOH and it might be my favorite little nook in our entire apartment.

I have created 5 key points to know when creating your cozy work space but before I begin, there are a few things I like to keep in my mind.  First things first, don’t get overwhelmed, you don’t need a massive office or the whole room just a comfortable desk and chair to accommodate all your desk necessities and stationary and always remember to keep it clean, simple and functional!

Organize: Pen holders, trays and file bins are all beneficial when trying to keep your items in one place and neatly organized. I use folders with labels to separate our bills, paperwork and other work documents that I file away when done. I also keep my paper and binder clips in little glass jars for easy access and organization. Love this for a file organizer and I definitely need this for my ipad.

Accessorize: Love adding pops of color and other elements such as a lamp or even an old school clock. I love the picture frame with clip I recently purchased, I use it for pictures along with upcoming invitations (as an extra reminder).  I love the acrylic theme for staplers and tape dispensers, it’s clean and modern and much more appealing than a traditional stapler and tape dispenser. Crushing on this this rose gold desk set;  it’s great for anyone needing to revamp their current desk situation. Make sure to add a fun book like the one pictured; The Curated Closet or your favorite magazines! Fun Fact: I used to buy InStyle magazines obsessively and never wanted to throw them away.

Plants or Flowers: Adding a touch of greenery or a fresh bouquet of flowers makes the space that much more inviting and cozy. Also love succulents and if you don’t quite have a green thumb, faux plants is a great way to add greenery to a place without the hassle of watering them.

Stationary: From planners to stickies and everything in between, stationary goodies might be my favorite of all. I keep a planner with me at all time for work and personal use, it keeps me extremely organized and punctual. A great notepad like this one here is great for a quick list of tasks or groceries. Along with a planner, I keep a journal, where I jot down inspirational items, detailed blog posts, my day to day encounters and personal thoughts, ideas and goals.

Wall Decor: Whether it’s inspirational quotes, a picture of your significant other or just a pretty image, wall decor adds a final touch to your cozy nook. Hanging shelves are a great way to add artistic pieces and provides additional room if confide with space. Adding a round mirror above your desk also provides you with a “vanity” along with a work station. Sometimes I need an extra nudge so inspirational quotes are a must and love the one I currently have, favorite part of the quote is “remember where you came from.” It’s important to be reminded of how much you have grown as a person and your accomplishments of the years (stay humble).

Hope this post inspires you to create a little go-to corner in your home! Have an amazing week and thank you for stopping by Hello It’s LOH.
