Hi Everyone!
I am finally getting a chance to answer your frequently asked questions and the questions you all submitted on Instagram last week. I thought it’s best to share them on the blog so that they don’t expire like they would on Instagram stories. I have broken them out by various categories.
Beauty:
What is your favorite shampoo?
- There are several that I love and every so often I switch them out. Currently I love Oribe and have been using it for the last several months. It’s recommended to switch out your shampoo every few months so I keep the same few on rotation. I also have a hair blog post here that mentions all the different shampoos I have tried and loved.
Do you have a tutorial available on how you curl your hair?
- Yes I do, I will link it HERE!
Did you have to switch out your make up when you were pregnant?
- I have worn the same make up pretty much forever now, I am a die hard Bare Minerals fan, I use their tinted moisturizer for everyday and then their original foundation for when I want extra coverage. With that said both are very light coverage so “extra” coverage for me might not be the same as for someone else. I also use their concealer along with their blush and bronzer. I think the starter kit is a great way to try everything all at once.
What’s the curling iron you recommend that doesn’t damage your hair?
- I have had them all, just check out my cabinet in my bathroom, but after trial and error I discovered the GHD curling iron that I use as a wand and curling iron in the 1 1/4 is hands down the best one on the market. It’s pricey, but it leaves your hair smooth, I have had it now for over 2 years now and still going strong.
Any new products that you are trying and have loved?
- yes yes and yes! I love my Drunk Elephant Vitamin C Eye cream and my Drunk Elephant Shaba eye cream along with my Tatcha Vitamin C serum. I also recently purchased the D-Bronzi drops and holly molly ravioli, it’s the bomb dot com. I mix it with my moisturizer and that’s all I have been using the last few days no foundation or anything. Use like half of a pump, the entire pump might be too much, at least for me it would be. The first day I just very very little and didn’t notice anything and then the next day I used half a pump and it was the best thing ever. Best part of it all, it’s all clean, and it works!
Baby:
What are some of your favorite pjs for Sofia?
- Burt’s Bees, I love that it’s organic cotton and I just love everything they have for baby clothes and basics.
Where do you get Sofia’s adorable bows?
- 99% of the time her bows are from Nordstrom, specifically this Baby Bling brand
Have you decided on Sofia’s Birthday party theme?
- We think we have a theme and we have a plan and most of it is confirmed, still have a few things to straight out.
What sleep schedule and training did you use for Sofia?
- We use Taking Cara Babies, they also have an instagram @takingcarababies, where they share a ton of helpful information. Also check out their highlights. Their method is gentle and it’s not as rigorous as some of the others. My mommy heart couldn’t handle some of the others.
Wardobe:
What was that brand of denim and style that you constantly mention?
- Citizens of Humanity Rocket Crop, love them, I am normally true to size, some of denim depending on the shade I do have to size down. I also recently purchased the Levi’s Wedgie Straight and wow, I totally get the hype!
Who are the majority of your Wool/Cashmere coats by?
- Majority are by Theory and they truly do make the best wool/cashmere coats, super soft and so warm, I have tried some of the others and I was not a fan and couldn’t recommend an alternative. I also recently purchased a Mansur Gavriel wool/cashmere coat and it’s just as good, however they are super pricey.
You always mention the Perfect Fit tees, what do you love about them?
- You have to get at least one J.Crew Perfect Fit Tee, they are truly the best, great quality, amazing fit, wash well and are 100% cotton! I have them in multiple colors. They are my best sellers and truly speak for themselves, highly recommend them.
Get to know me questions:
What is one item you can’t leave the house with?
- Would have to be my cosmetics bag that has all my essentials, lip balm, band aids, advil, hand cream, sanitizing wipes for Sofia and I.
Why is your phone always on low battery, always seen your screenshots on insta stories?
- I am the worst when it comes to my phone, I hate charging it, I only charge it at night and then if I am in the car then I will plug it in, when I get home I just leave it laying around and never pay attention to the battery, only when it’s on 1% do I actually decide to plug it in.
What is your best and worst quality?
- Hmmm, let’s see I think that my best quality is that I care too much, if you are a friend of mine then I love you and treat you like you are my sibling, I will bend over back wards for the ones closest to me. My worst quality is that I go down a rabbit hole of researching topics until I know every single thing about it, who what where when why and I won’t let it go. I am also very impatient and need instant satisfaction when it comes to certain things.
If you could give someone one piece of advice what would it be?
- Life is not a race, we all do things at our own pace and there is no reward when you get things done before someone else, unless you are actually running a marathon, then timing is important. At the end of the day, it’s about striving towards being the best you can be.
What do you and Arnel do when it comes to saving and spending?
- Gosh this is such an easy question for Arnel, he doesn’t ever spend money lol, he is very low maintenance, he rarely asks for anything, he packs his lunch and doesn’t drink coffee, aside from photography and pricey cameras he doesn’t have any expensive hobbies so he is pretty low maintenance therefore he is big on saving. I on the other hand, drink coffee, but I make my own coffee everyday, there are occasions where I get a Starbucks drink however, if I do then I count it as dessert because it’s extra sweet. We don’t eat out a ton because I have a weak stomach/sensitive so even the super nice restaurants can make my stomach hurt. We also prefer to go on nice vacations vs spending money on fast food and other things like that, 5 bucks here 10 bucks for lunch here and there it adds up and puts a dent in your health. I do love clothes always have, however I care about investment pieces but it’s also a part of blogging, trying out things, testing out various brands, but I too am big on saving where you can. I don’t recommend cutting everything out but I think it’s more a lifestyle choice if that makes sense. Like we prefer to make our own lunches and healthy dinners and get to buy organic food and fresh food all the time and invest in great groceries vs eating out 3 times a day. We prefer to live debt free, if you don’t have it, don’t spend it. Don’t buy things and then say, I will pay for it, if you are living way out of your means then it’s going to cause financial issues in the long run. It’s like playing catch up all the time. If you do have debt of any kind, truly I am sorry, the market crash years ago really messed everyone up but it was also a lesson that it can happen to everyone and can happen at any given moment, so being financially stable being able to pay at least 2 years of mortgage/rent if, god forbid you lost your jobs, being able to still provide for your family and your home, that is like the bare minimum that you should have saved up. I can go into further detail about home buying and the importance of having a large enough down payment so that you don’t have to stress later on. Alright, I have to reel myself back in!
Whats your favorite thing about being married?
- Sharing tasks, haha jk, having an in house best friend, partner, lover, confidant, therapist, psychologist, comedian, supporter, cheerleader, all of the above!
Being an adult and maintaining friends is hard, how do you manage to have adult friends?
- I too struggle with this, but there are a few friends we love that have been in our lives for quite some time and no matter where life takes us we always pick up where we left off. I also think social media has helped, I have gotten to connect with so many people. I have a colleague that I work with who attends tons of events and meets so many people, I wish I had his strength to do that, but I don’t, as much as I am a chatty kathy, I tend to be reserved when it comes to certain social situations.
What’s the biggest misconception people have of you?
- I am not sure about this one, not everyone shares what they think of you but I hope that I never come off a certain way. I am all about being honest, authentic and just all around happy!
What’s your dream car?
- I am not a car person, neither is Arnel, I still have the same car I had in college, Cars are a waste of money and no ROI. So my dream car will be when I don’t need a car at all, can hang at the farm and ideally I would love to go down to one vehicle and when we do that, I hope it’s one that is nice, feels luxurious but is eco friendly and one that I can maybe win on Price is Right (wishful thinking right?)
Also included direct shoppable images below for easier shopping to everything that I mentioned above
Hope you guys enjoyed this little Q&A, we should do it again!
