Design Books You Need

As you all know, we are in the middle of designing our new home build. Before starting with our architect, I went down a Pinterest rabbit hole. I also searched high and low for architectural/interior design books to help us really visualize what we wanted, what we didn’t want. It really helped both Arnel and I come up with a list of must haves in our home and things we didn’t really care too much about or are okay to exclude in our home.

Before I share our must have design books that also display beautifully as coffee table books. I wanted to go ahead and share just a few things that we really wanted to include in our home.

Wish List

  • Every bedroom to have it’s own full bathroom (shower or tub)
  • An office space for Lejla and an office space for Arnel- we both work from home
  • Master Suite/Wing on the first floor with separate walk in closets (ideally opens out to a terrace in the back)
  • Large Playroom/Upstairs Living Room that Sofia can grow into or can be used a multi-function room that we can all use
  • Walk in Patry to hide additional appliances such as toaster, blender etc.
  • Large Mudroom, the house will be on a fairly large property and things get really messy on a farm
  • Spacious Laundry: Lejla loves to do laundry, is passionate about reading tags for how to wash her items and even hand washes
  • Outdoor covered Patio that is accessed through the living room so we can entertain and enjoy evening sunsets

Favorite Books

A few other things that really helped me was being able to see some of the wall paper samples, so I ordered the Schumacher Wall Coverings Book. The Paint Fans were a must order. It helped me visualize paint samples since the internet screens can be so different.

Design Books

Let me know which of the books are your favorite!
