April Favorites

Wait it’s already May, what is happening? time is flying and I say that every month but no really the month of April just flew by. I have been loving this monthly favorites series, it really makes me look forward to sharing my absolute favorites and things I recommend and truly love. I have also wanted to incorporate some more personal things I have done in the month of April. I would say I have been inspired more and more to share with you all about my day to day things and just goals I have put in place for myself.

Before I get into the nitty gritty of a few changes, I wanted to talk about my April Favorites! (great gift ideas too).

  1. The first one being this Jo Malone Perfume in Peony & Blush Suede, I have always loved Jo Malone and love all their fragrances but always seem to repurchase the same scent. I also purchased it for my mom for mother’s day which would be a super sweet gift, if you aren’t sure what to get your mom. I promise she won’t be disappointed!
  2. Anyone who knows me knows that I am always running around, from work to blogging to photoshoots to walks in the park with Arnel and with that, you need comfy flats. I got the Chloe Flats in Navy for my birthday and have been obsessed and wear them all the time. Look great with dresses, work wear and jeans. While the Chloe pair are a splurge, I found a similar scalloped pair here for under $50.
  3. Another favorite has been my Yeti cup, heard everyone always rave about them so I caved and purchased it recently! Love that it keeps my tea hot all day. I also bring it to the park and fill it up with water and throw it in my bike basket, love having it handy! We used to buy bottled water all the time but that was such a waste since our fridge provides plenty of water and I figured I could save the planet by buying a lot less plastic. Just ordered the 30 oz for my brother in law, his birthday is this Friday and what a great gift for guys and girls especially now during the warmer months and pool days!
  4. Having my Denim Jacket on hand at all times was a must, I have also worn it the last 2 days straight and love pairing it over dresses for work or even chinos. Also my office is pretty cold, so having a light weight denim jacket is definitely necessary. I highly recommend investing in a denim jacket, because it truly will last you for many seasons to come.
  5. While most days I am pretty bad about wearing my glasses, most recently I had made it a priority to put them on first thing in the morning, my vision isn’t too bad, just can’t see far like the board or when driving at night (yikes). Every time I wear them I always get stopped by strangers asking me where I got them from. I love sharing that they are from Warby Parker (affordable regardless of whether you have eye insurance or not) and they have the cutest styles. My style is “Dahl” but I don’t think they make them in that style anymore, so I found a similar pair, the “Percey.”

Alright now I wanted to get into a few personal changes I have made this past April, the most drastic being that I stopped drinking coffee! I thought this was one thing I couldn’t give up, I love the smell of coffee I loved drinking it in the mornings and I pretty much had a cup a day, sometimes two. While I wasn’t a crazy coffee addict (it’s what I tell myself), I felt like I was dependent on it and the older I got, it seemed like it was irritating my belly. So of course with the help of Arnel I woke up one morning and was like you know what, no more coffee, so now I have turned into a tea queen. The tea has totally transformed my body, I truly mean that, my skin has never looked better, not a single blemish has popped up. I have tried a variety of teas and always made sure to read the health benefits, and my morning favorite is black tea, it’s great for the digestive system, reduces risk of cancer and lowers stress hormones. I also have a mid afternoon pick me up and it’s a white tea with peach and honey blend, come to find out white tea is rich in antioxidants and has great anti-aging abilities (no wonder my skin has been so great). I have only seen other positive benefits of quitting coffee like better mood, much calmer and happier and now I am thinking I should have done it earlier, cutting out the coffee creamer was also another positive. Felt like over time the coffee creamer was just kicking my butt.

As for what I put in my tea, just a teaspoon of organic raw/unfiltered honey (we get ours from whole foods), it comes in a huge jar and lasts quite a while. On occasion I will squeeze a bit of lemon!

Let me know if you are interested in more monthly favorites and health changes I have made!

xoxo
