Happy New Year Everyone! I hope you all had such an amazing time celebrating the holidays with your loved ones. I am back from Richmond and starting to get back into the swing of things. When I say swing of things what I mean is SLOWLY back into the swing of things. Working and juggling the blog while pregnant while still trying to stay active and healthy has really made me appreciate things, time is precious, seriously. When I have extra energy I never put it to waste because those few hours when I am not sleepy, I try to use it to my advantage, because it’s no joke. We also found out in December that I was pretty anemic, I say pretty but it was rough and I had no idea I just assumed me being extremely tired was just me being pregnant but it wasn’t. So I started taking Iron supplements and totally started pretty much inhaling foods that were high in iron and it has made such a huge difference. I got blood work re done and my iron levels jumped pretty drastically. It also made me realize what a few changes can really do to the body and so glad Arnel and I reacted pretty quickly.

Also surprisingly I have not invested in a ton of maternity clothes, I kind of made that my goal when I found out I was pregnant. The reason being is that maternity clothes are expensive and I wanted the basics and I rather invest in non maternity and then gift them to my sisters instead of trying to sell or give away maternity clothes. I purchased some leggings that I know I will be able to wearing after labor and a few things here and there but nothing drastic. I also found it easier to purchase dresses because they fit the bump so much easier. Now that the temps have dropped I have loved wearing dresses with flats or boots and my oversize coats.

Wearing all black has also been a life saver, while I would normally wear brighter colors, while pregnant, I found black to be the most flattering. It’s also been great because I have invested in dozens of coats over the years and love to wear them over my all black outfits. While I still work in an office setting I have had to make sure that my looks are also office appropriate so I found these adorable cropped black pants that are great and fit under the belly. I pair them with my favorite long sleeve tee that I have been living in. I have multiple in both white and black and wear them literally ALL THE TIME. They are stretchy too and fit wonderfully over my belly. Best thing is they are non maternity and I know I will be reaching for them even after the baby.

Some other things I have been reaching for in my closet are my coats, long cardigans and shoes. Having great coats and cardigans in your closet are some of my must have staples, especially coats that look great with both casual wear as well as fancy dresses. I love this pink one that I wore and seem to wear at least 2-3 times a week (last seen here). I also love this new Theory Coat/Cardigan that is insanely warm, I can’t even begin to describe it. They are both wool/cashmere blend and are probably some of my warmest coats. I also love my J.Crew Lady Coats that look so great with dresses that I recently wore to my own baby shower over a dress.

Now lets talk shoes, I love investing in shoes, mostly flats, I feel like I can justify my flats purchases because I do get so much more use out of them than heels. While I do love investing in heels and my heels have truly lasted me quite some time it’s also because they aren’t worn daily so they always look brand now when I grab them out of the box.
Most recent favorites have been my Stubbs and Wootton Loafers that I shared so much about on my insta stories; have both these and these. They are true to size, I almost always wear a 6.5 in loafers and that’s exactly what I ordered and they fit perfectly so my foot hasn’t changed during pregnancy, still have 8 weeks to go but so far so good.
