When in Hawaii

Hawaii part 2, I say part 2 because last year we went to Maui for our Honeymoon and we loved it so much that we decided to visit again. There are several islands to choose from but we like Maui, the beaches are beautiful, they have amazing resorts to choose room and the places to explore are endless.

Now the good stuff, we stayed at The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas, they also have The Westin Resort and Spa which is where we stayed last year. They are about half a mile apart! I couldn’t’ tell you which one I liked better because they were both fantastic. At the villas you have a mini kitchen, which is great if you have food allergies or a weak stomach, which is one of the reasons we stayed there this time around because I do have a really weak stomach and it gets upset with minor changes in my diet so it was nice to be able to have my regular breakfast in the comfort of our villa.

The Westin Hotel has a much larger pool, actually they have several large pools and its packed with families from sun up to sun down so super happy/hyper kids are running around having a ball (perfect family resort). It’s honestly great to have the option of either or, I am sure when we have children we will go with the Westin Hotel again since it has a super cool water slide that would entertain any kid and any adult, any adult as in me because that slide is on point. Another thing is we actually spend the least amount of time in our hotel room because vacations are made to have fun in the sun. As soon as it hits 4AM yes 4AM we are up and ready to roll! Everyone gets up early maybe because you are on vacation and want to enjoy every second so you don’t’ waste much time sleeping in. People are jogging along the beach, waiting for the sunrise, enjoying their breakfast,  paddle boarding and surfing. Also the sunrises and sunsets in Maui are probably the most amazing things you will ever witness, it never gets old EVER.

Alright now the activities,  you have to go SNORKELING!! Since I am a huge science nerd we snorkeled with the Pacific Whale Foundation which is so dear to my heart, they do a ton of research on marine wild life, they also help protect their habitant and educate others on how to do the same. I feel like I would have to do a post all by itself to just go in depth, but I have attached their website so you all can read about it. There are several snorkeling companies who do a great job as well. Pacific Whale Foundation

We did our Sunset Cruise with Gemini, which was spectacular, they serve great appetizers and awesome mimosas,  their crew is also very knowledgeable and funny. We actually got to see humpback whales which was a nice surprise because the whale watching cruise is a whole different package, so we actually got pretty lucky with the two for one.

Nakalele Blow Hole, if you ever visit you have to go see the blow hole and the heart shaped rock. The hike down is easy but not recommended in sandals, WHOOPS, I wore sandals but it was fine, I didn’t get injured, a few minor cuts and bruises never hurt anyone.

Haleakala Volcano, now this is one thing you have to do when in Maui, words can’t describe how amazing it is so I am not even going to try. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. PS if you are afraid of heights, try to overcome them because the view from the top will take your breath away. I will let you in on a secret, I had a minor anxiety attack because once you pass 7000 feet there are no railings, thank goodness for my husbands driving skills, I was freaking out but so worth it.

Check out Lahaina Harbor and Paia, they have the cutest shops and let me know even to begin to talk about the food, Paia Fish Market (it’s a restaurant) has the best Mahi Mahi burger ever, it’s delicious we had lunch there twice and then stopped there before we headed out to the airport on our last day! (yup that good) the place is small but always packed. They also have several locations but go to the one in Paia, that’s the original.

Lahaina Harbor has several beautiful art galleries, if you followed my insta stories you got to see some of the art work. One of the art galleries has paintings by Picasso and Andy Warhol, so beautiful in person, so fortunate to be able to see them in person.

The Road to Hana we did last year but not this year, I got pretty bad motion sickness last year, never had motion sickness before but I know how it feels like and even though it was all worth it, we wanted to try other things, if you have never been you need to go!

if you have specific questions about the trip please feel free to email me or message me on Instagram, I am happy to answer them all.
